Samsung Galaxy S III shifts the iPhone 4S from the top selling smartphone world in the third quarter of 2012. Success, according to Strategy Analytics, supported by an extensive distribution and operator subsidies are large.
18 million Galaxy S III shipped in the period from July to September, while the iPhone 4S record 16.2 million. When combined with the iPhone 5, Apple's duo defeated the Galaxy S III, with a total of 22.2 million shipments in the three months.
Overall, the analysts claim three devices it controls 24 percent of the global smartphone market. Both the company itself was involved in a row, and Apple continues to reduce its dependence on sourcing of components from Samsung production branches.
Ironically, the competition was actually believed to have been petrified performance of Samsung in stores. Galaxy S III experienced a surge in sales after Apple claimed that the product mimics the iPhone.
Meanwhile, the presence of the iPhone 5, Strategy Analytics estimates that Apple will retake the top spot smartphones in the fourth quarter. Strategy Analytics Executive Director Neil Mawston said the iPhone 5 has made a strong start in terms of sales. "Apple will soon regain the position as the most popular smartphone models in the world," he predicts.
This is not the first time the Galaxy S III beats iPhone in sales. In September, he became the best-selling smartphone in the U.S., beating the iPhone 4S.
Defeat the iPhone 4S in the third quarter may be due to customers refrain from upgrading because waiting the appearance of the iPhone 5. "Consumers are delaying purchases due to anticipation of the presence of the iPhone 5 are expected at the end of the quarter," says senior analyst Neil Shah.
